The Supreme Court of Illinois does not recognize certifications of specialties in the practice of law.
Pursuant to the Illinois Rules of Professional Conduct, "a lawyer may not use the terms 'certified,' 'specialist,' 'expert,'
or any other similar terms to describe his qualifications as a lawyer or his qualifications in any sub-specialty of the law."
The only exception to the rule involves attorneys practicing in the areas of patents, trademarks or admiralty law. |

The Illinois Secretary of State has the authority to either suspend or revoke an active duty service member's driving
privileges if the member, "has been convicted by a court martial or punished by non-judicial punishment by military authorities of the United
States at a military installation in Illinois of or for a traffic-related offense that is the same as or similar to (numerous offenses described in the
Illinois Motor Vehicle Code including DUI, leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, permitting the fraudulent use of a driver's license and numerous
additional offenses)." |

NURSING HOME NEGLIGENCE |

Plaintiffs who successfully bring claims pursuant to the Illinois Nursing Home Care Act are not required to repay
liens from the Illinois Department of Public Aid, from monies obtained in any settlement or judgment (brought pursuant to the Act).
(Further, any monies so recovered by a nursing home resident are exempt "for purposes of determining initial or continuing eligibility
for medical assistance (from Illinois Public Aid)." |
